Antidyslipidemic Effect of 5-Fluorouracil against Cyclophosphamide-Induced Dyslipidemia in Male Albino Rats

Background: Cyclophosphamide (CPA) is a drug with wide spectrum of clinical uses. It commonly used as anticancer and immuno suppressant agent. induces hyperlipidemia myocardium damage. 5-FU widely in the treatment range cancers. combination other chemotherapeutic agents improves response rates survival breast head neck Objectives: The present study aimed to evaluate antidyslipidemic effect 5-fluorouracil against dyslipidemia induced by cyclophosphamide male albinorats. Materials Methods: Twenty-eight adult rats were grouped randomly into four groups (n=5 for each group). Group II (CPA): at dose 10 mg/kg day through i.p. 14 days. III Fluorouracil (5-FU): 5-Fluorouracil saline was given IV (CPA+5-FU): Rats CPA followed per (day day) At end experimental period, anesthetized using light ether. Blood samples taken prepared biochemical measurements. Results: Intraperitoneal administration or resulted significant increase levels serum lipids. cholesterol, Triglyceride, LDL treated significantly increased when compared controls. When administered prevented lipid highlighting its hypolipidemic role antagonism. Also, marked decrease HDL cholesterol noted rats. These changes produced normalized Conclusion: could be concluded that dyslipidemia. However, produce amelioration dyslipidemic changes, it may considered potentially useful candidate chemotherapy prevent Future work should consider combined regimens, two more mechanisms action drugs powerful than one mechanism.
